Harold and Maude
~ dvdmovie - comedy
Black comedies don't come much blacker than this cult favorite from 1972, and they don't come much funnier, either. It seemed that director Hal Ashby was the perfect choice to mine a mother lode of eccentricity from the original script by Colin Higgins, about the unlikely romance between a death-obsessed 19-year-old named Harold (Bud Cort) and a life-loving 79-year-old widow named Maude (Ruth Gordon). They meet at a funeral, and Maude finds

Embrace of the Vampire
~ DVDerotica
A viewer writes: Alyssa Milano is so beautiful in this movie. She is by far the one of the most stunning actresses today. It is unfortunate that this is the type of movie that she did to resurrect her career, but overall it's not half bad. It is very dark, sensual, and intriguing, and Alyssa plays Chartlotte, a virginal freshman who dreams of a vampire who seduces her in her dreams. the film is beautifully shot with semi-convincing performances from the attractive cast which includes Rachel True, Jennifer Tilly, Charlotte Lewis, and Harrison Pruett.

The 10th Victim
~ DVDmovie
Long before reality shows took over the TV airwaves and violent parodies like Series 7 and Battle Royale hit international screens, Elio Petri made this campy social satire of a future in which the bored, the ambitious, and the just plain violent can sign up for a deadly game of cat and mouse. "The Big Hunt is necessary as a social safety valve," explains one TV personality. "Why control births when we can control deaths?" Marcello Mastroianni, who plays the womanizing Italian media darling with a gift for ingenious assassinations, becomes the target of sexy champion Ursula Andress

Big Bad Mamma
~ DVDmovie
Angie Dickinson stars as a bank-robbing matriarch in this 1974 Roger Corman production, often described as a knock-off of Bonnie and Clyde. (As if that makes any difference regarding the worth of the film--which is pretty good.) Set in Great Depression-era Texas, the story finds Dickinson's desirable and poor character driven to crime, along with her two daughters (Susan Sennett, Robbie Lee), all of whom use sex to distract or drive men into culpability. The film, directed by Steve Carver, is pure Corman formula: fast-moving, violent, gritty, adorned with nudity,

Chained Girls / Daughters of Lesbos (Something Weird)
~ DVDcult classic movie
A viewer writes: The two main titles on this DVD are both hilarious, particularly the first, 1965's &Chained Girls&. This is not a BDSM feature at all, and neither is it claimed to be. It is, instead, a supposed documentary about the &growing menace& of lesbianism. I find it humourous to think that the filmmakers sincerely believed any of the (mis)information presented in this film. The box compares it to Ed Wood's &Glen Or Glenda&, and I can see why.
